In Action

When put to action, your gift goes a long way in doing the most good in Hampton Roads.

Your membership in the "High Five Club" helps serve the needy children in Hampton Roads. In 2008 The Salvation Army served more than 13,000 children, and that was during the Christmas season alone. A gift of $5 a month helps area children all year round as they seek clothing, food and other necessities. In fact, a gift of just $10 can help provide a child with school supplies for an entire year.
A gift of $5 a week assists in operation at the 19th Street Men's Shelter. It also can provide a warm dinner for up to 20 men. During the course of a year the 19th Street Men's Shelter serves more than 58,000 meals. Imagine what a gift of just $120 a year could do to help.
A gift of $5 can be put toward acquiring food for the food pantry that is in turn served to the community nightly on the mobile canteen. With about $5, The Salvation Army can feed a family of four for a day; a gift of just $60 a year can can serve that same family of four for 2 weeks.
